Contact breaker points (also called a contact set or ignition points) switch the primary current of the ignition coil. The spark is produced at the moment the points open. Worn or burnt points cause hard starting, misfiring and incorrect ignition timing.

After installation, set the point gap or dwell angle to the manufacturer’s specification and check the ignition timing. We recommend replacing the condenser at the same time.
